“The Perla nel Blu is simply amazing. This was our first experience with Airbnb and we had read quite a few glowing reviews before we finally booked it. First, I will start with the location. Conca Dei Marini is a very quiet village away from the very busy centres of Amalfi and Positano, yet only a few minutes by bus or taxi. Like all of the villages also get the Amalfi coast, it is built on a steep hillside (mountainside?) and this means walking anywhere involves going up and down steps. A lot of steps. Edoardo and Carlotta’s assistant, Antoinetta, who is simply amazing by the way, told us distances are measured in the number of steps. I believe the Perla is some 71 steps from the road so be prepared. Everyday is leg day! Conca Dei Marini has a few excellent restaurants including the incomparable Le Bonta del Capo with its extensive wine menu, outstanding views and food to send you to heaven. Other amenities include the local butcher, a few small shops and the Piccadilly Ceramic shop – a must see! The attractions include the Church of San Pancrazio, the former monastery of Santa Rosa (now a hotel/spa with Michelin restaurant) and the Grotta dello Smeraldo. Everywhere you go, you are presented with stunning views. Now for the Perla. It must be the best villa in Conca Dei Marini. The hosts communicated with us every step of the way and made it easy to find. Their assistant, Antoinetta, was extremely helpful and gave us a thorough introduction to the villa. We were also greeted with a lovely gift basket that included local pasta, sauce and limoncello. Perla del Blue is a two bedroom villa with fully equipped kitchen, living room with fireplace (it was August, we definitely didn’t need it lol), dining room and two bathrooms. It is extremely well decorated and features television, air conditioning, a laundry closet. Perhaps even better are the exterior amenities. A set of spiral stairs leads upward to a covered seating area which in turn leads to a upper sun deck that provides an outstanding view of the village and coastline. To the rear, is a fully equipped outdoor kitchen and dining area, and lastly (but definitely not least), is the small pool and hot tub with garden area and hammocks. We spent most our time outside in these areas and it felt like being in a private resort – simply amazing! In summary, we would definitely come back. The hosts are incredibly thoughtful and the villa simply stunning. Thank you Edoardo and Carlotta for making this experience so wonderful! Karel and Christine Baayen”
